In partnership with Goldman Sachs, the McCain Institute, and the Meridian International Center, the George W. Bush Institute hosted a Women’s Leadership Delegation from Burma.  In honor of their visit, the Freedom Collection spotlights the bravery of countless Burmese dissidents working to free their country from tyranny.  Today we recognize the efforts of Khin Ohmar, a Burmese dissident who has been a spokesperson for Burma’s democracy movement in the United Nations General Assembly and in other international forums.

In her Freedom Collection interview, Khin Ohmar talks about her student activism against the military junta.  She remembers the 1988 coup where the military employed lethal force against student-led demonstrations:
