Watch the new interview with Egyptian civil society activist Samar El Hussieny on the Freedom Collection.  Samar is a program officer at the Andalus Institute for Tolerance and Anti-Violence Studies in Cairo.  She was an activist in last year’s Egyptian Revolution and continues to work on political development, human rights, and elections.  Samar was also among the inaugural participants of the Bush Institute’s Women’s Initiative Fellowship Program, a leadership program designed to empower and equip women to catalyze change. In her interview, Samar talks about the feeling of disappointment among many Egyptians that the revolution has not delivered all that it promised:  “The people in Egypt, they are not satisfied. And they are disappointed from the revolution. But for me, this is kind of a misunderstanding because the revolution — it didn’t succeed yet and we didn’t implement our vision for the future of this country.” Watch her interview here.
