Fellow in Human Freedom Joel D. Hirst appeared on Voice of America's talk show “Inter-American Forum” to discuss Venezuela’s political situation on May 4, 2012. In response to the speculations of President Chavez’s health, as well as his recent announcement of establishing a “Council of Government” and withdrawing from the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights, Hirst emphasized the importance of respecting the Venezuelan constitution and honoring the upcoming electoral event.
